I'm sure it's here somewhere...

...it was a song

It was a little song that I'd placed in a secret drawer of my heart for safekeeping. It was quite lovely, enchanting and birdlike and it had a lilting and joyfully transporting cadence. I'm sure it's still in here somewhere, I suppose it's easy to misplace... I'll keep rummaging – perhaps it's among the socks...

2024 - quite a year

Maybe it is just the new normal. Shifts and changes, bumps and scrapes, unexpected turns, zig-zags, tumbles and other acrobatics, and some let-downs - my heart has needed some propping up. Still, as rivers flow, the year has also brought some serene vistas with lovely glades and calm pools full of ducks splashing and dragonflies buzzing - and it has offered some welcome room to breathe... I've managed to maintain a news fast since my last post!

2025 - what's on the horizon?

a cutaway view into zigzag avenues of my brain's pathways

I have some plans for the Reluctant Illustrator in the works. In the new year, I'm contemplating a shift to Substack in the spring, Ghost is great and all, but it's costly and doesn't support the growth of a platform-based audience.

I'll be starting a Patreon account with subscriptions, donations and perks to help me keep this rolling and support those special projects that are brewing - things I'm looking at:

  • A subscriber calender for one-on-one conversations and drawing sessions.
  • Zoom group-drawing sessions and workshops. I'll bring the prompts
  • A real shop with Augmented Reality Cards and prints from the drawing room
  • Special Projects - like the ABC book. I'm working on a sample set of pages and will be knocking on doors in the new year.
  • Other things? Unknown things?
  • Thoughts? Ideas?
  • What would you like to see?

It's been great to have this little space on the interwebs to let myself muse and scribble. I've loved the continuity and it has been a bit of a keel. It's quietly rewarding and I'm so glad for your indulgence, comments and feedback. Even the hiatus has been fruitful - it's helped me understand the value of some things - like how important it's been to keep posting things here. Funny how that works.

Ok, just a little post for the coda of the year... to say I'm still here and I'll keep leaning in... and to wish Happy holidays to all of you and to thank you for paddling down the river with me this year - such swell company!

I will find that song soon enough - in the meantime, I found this... small victories!

As always, thanks for reading and indulging!
